Dean of Arts and HumanitiesThe Dean provides senior-level vision, leadership, and administrative direction for Arts and Humanities. They provide oversight for all programs within the area (including, but not limited to English (including Developmental English, Reading and Writing), English as a Second Language, World Languages, Deaf Studies, Art, Communication, Humanities, and Theatre), fostering growth, development, and assessment of curricula to meet transfer and workforce needs. The Dean also oversees Luso Centro, a center dedicated to the study of the language and culture of the Portuguese-speaking community, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Art Gallery, which annually presents a variety of art exhibitions and educational programming reflecting the diversity and vitality of contemporary art in the region. Currently, the Dean oversees the Library Learning Commons, which are one-stop spaces for academic support. As a core member of the Vice President's leadership team, the Dean ensures management and administrative oversight of all programs, services, staffing, and budgeting related to this area, with an emphasis on its growth and revitalization. They also build partnerships with regional businesses and organizations to foster a college-going culture, as well as address community needs. The Dean leads strategic planning for the area and fosters innovation consistent with college strategic goals.
